Three decades ago a young performer named Elaine Petrone suffered a serious back injury which turned into an imbalance so pronounced that one of her thighs came to be twice the thickness of the other. Unable to find a cure with either conventional medicine or alternative healthcare, but determined to heal, she began an extensive period of personal research that culminated in her bringing her body back to full functioning. The Miracle Ball Method is a truly revolutionary and innovative approach to movement and bodywork. Skillfully utilizing gravity, two small, softish balls and the breath, the MBM easily and effectively uncovers and relieves whole networks of excess muscullar tension (which are often unconscious and deeply held) in a very thorough-going way.
What makes the MBM unique is that it is totally a NON-exercise/ NON-work method. Most people think of bodywork as WORK: specifically work with muscles...work exercising them or work stretching them, or work digging out knots of tension. But the MBM does not use any of this muscle work! Rather, it trains the nervous system.
Why train the nervous system? Because muscles lengthen or tighten in response to signals from the nervous system. It is the nervous system that commands the muscles and balances their tension throughout the body: big muscles we've all become familiar with and teeny tiny muscles that almost no one has ever heard of. Excessive tension in any of these, even the small ones, can create pain, stiffness or annoying limitation in body movement that makes us more suceptible to injury and discomfort in activity. So if we can simply align with the nervous system to find areas where the muscles are working too hard, and then signal the nervous system to relax them into a more balanced state...the extra tension will melt away and our comfort and natural movement return. This is what the Miracle Ball Method does.
Learn the Method
Althought books can be a good starting point, practically speaking trying to learn from them just cannot hold a candle to receiving personal instruction from a trained teacher.
I offer local MBM sessions in both one-on-one and group instruction formats. I am also willing to travel for groups organized elsewhere.
